Lattice is a commit-reveal batch auction DEX that eliminates MEV (Miner Extractable Value / Maximal Extractable Value) through cryptographic order sealing and uniform Walrasian price clearing. Users submit sealed order hashes in Phase 1 (Commit), reveal plaintext in Phase 2 (Reveal), and a single clearing price `p*` is computed on-chain in Phase 3 (Clear). No party can observe or front-run orders before settlement.

## 2. VARA Regulatory Framework (UAE Virtual Assets)

### 2.1 Applicable Regulations
Under the **Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA)** framework established in Dubai (Law No. 4 of 2022):

- **Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) classification** — Lattice operates as a decentralised exchange protocol. Under VARA's guidance on DeFi, fully non-custodial, autonomous smart contract protocols occupy a distinct category from centralised VASPs.
- **Relevant VARA Rulebooks:** Exchange Activities Rulebook, Broker-Dealer Activities Rulebook (for the agent component).

### 2.2 Lattice's VARA Classification

**Preliminary classification:** Lattice is a **non-custodial smart contract protocol**. Under VARA's technology-neutral approach and the global regulatory trend (MiCA Article 4(3), Singapore MAS PS Act exemptions), fully decentralised protocols with no controlling legal person may qualify for a regulatory carve-out or simplified notification regime rather than full VASP licensing.

## 3. AML/CFT Analysis

### 3.1 Risk Assessment

**Inherent MEV-elimination reduces financial crime risk:**  
Traditional DEX front-running creates exploitable information asymmetry that sophisticated actors misuse. Lattice's sealed batch auction removes this vector entirely.

### 3.2 On-Chain Transparency
All settled trades are publicly verifiable on Solana's ledger. The `ClearBatch` instruction emits the uniform clearing price `p*` and matched volumes. Post-settlement, full order provenance (tokenIn, tokenOut, amount, limitPrice, payer) is publicly attributable via the RevealIntent transaction.

### 3.3 Sanctions Screening
The protocol itself is permissionless and cannot screen at the smart contract layer. Recommended mitigations for any front-end operator:
- Integrate Chainalysis/TRM Labs address screening on the front-end
- Block access from OFAC-sanctioned jurisdictions at the web layer
- Implement wallet screening before signing transactions

## 4. Market Integrity

### 4.1 Price Manipulation Prevention
The Walrasian uniform clearing price `p*` is computed as:

This single price applies to all matched orders simultaneously. No order can receive a better or worse price than any other order crossing at the same clearing price. This is mathematically equivalent to the sealed-bid double auction used in regulated equity markets (e.g., NYSE opening auction).

## 5. Smart Contract Security

### 5.1 Program Architecture

- **Formal verification:** Walrasian clearing algorithm verifiable; binary search bounds proven.

All user data is on-chain and pseudonymous:
